Montauk Inlet Picture

I took this shot of the Montauk inlet a few weeks ago when the storm came in. I can tell you there was no boat fishing that day. Check out the wave hitting the far point of the east jetty. That spray is at least 12 feet high. The specs on the picture are sand and spray.

Blackfish are hot in Montauk now

From what I hear, blackfishing is hot right now. Both the party boats and charters are hitting into some great fishing for togs. If you've never been blackfishing before, I recommend taking a run at them. It's quite a thrill to bring up a heavy hitter. If you have done some blackfishing...you know exactly what I mean.

Here are some more recent montauk blackfishing articles listed on Accoona's news search.

Stripers are also keeping everyone happily busy. However, I havn't heard of any herring or gannets hitting the area yet. That means the season is gonna stay strong for quite a while. For the charter guys...I pray for nice blue skies this weekend...for the surf guys, I pray for a noreast blow. Being involved in both makes that a touch decision.
